Students!

In light of recent events that may or may not have happened, in addition to complaints I may or may not be receiving, we will be changing the focus of our class temporarily to self-defense! These classes will be optional. If you feel you are capable of looking after yourself, I shall not hold you to attendance, though I request that you prove it to me in some way or another.

A pre-lesson, if you will: if you ever find yourself in a dangerous position, you must use any and all resources you have. For instance -- a pencil! Your backpack! Or even, a heavy book! Bring an item you believe may be used as a weapon to the next class!

Between you and me, this 'rumor' business is a whole lot of rubbish. We all know something happened.

I'd prefer if they stayed in their rooms until this all blows over, but if the point is to maintain an illusion of safety . . .

A fine line is being walked between that illusion of safety and whatever information is being withheld. The attempted block on the rumor mill either came too late and the patrol is simply trying to keep order, or there was some sort of complication that would instill panic. I don't like either option.

We're in agreement, I see. I'm afraid any method of protection I could offer is difficult to teach, but if you find yourself in need of assistance, I'd be glad to help.

Judging from the conversations with that patrolman, many of us share similar opinions concerning their decision. It seems hardly reasonable to continue keeping silent -- Every other note in these journals addresses the 'rumors' as certain truth.

Thank you for the offer. Though I have a limited knowledge of self-defense, it should be enough for them to get by.

I'd rather protect the children, but I fear there isn't much I can do. Not that I can remember, at any rate. But if you teach them about self-defense, at least they'll be able to take care of themselves long enough to get away if something should happen.

I'm not sure if I could help, to be honest. All I've remembered about myself is my name. I'd love to come by and assist if I can, however!
